Grace Family,
“And he said unto him, Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine.” — Luke 15:31 (KJV)
DON’T MISS THE FATHER’S HEART
In Sunday’s message, “A Tale of Two Sons,” from our new Come As You Are series, we were reminded of a truth worth carrying into this week: You can be near the Father and still miss the joy of knowing Him.
The younger son wandered far from home. The older son stayed, worked, and did what was expected. Yet when his brother returned, the older son struggled to celebrate. He knew the work of his father’s house, but he was missing his father’s heart.
That is a warning for all of us.
We can attend church, serve faithfully, and keep a full ministry schedule while allowing our relationship with God to become a list of responsibilities. We can become so focused on what we do for the Father that we forget the joy of being with Him.
The father’s words in Luke 15:31 are tender: “Son, thou art ever with me.” Before he speaks of possessions or service, he reminds his son of their relationship.
God wants more than our activity. He invites us into fellowship with Him. And when His grace restores someone else, we do not lose our place at His table. We have reason to rejoice.
THIS WEEK’S CHALLENGE
Set aside ten quiet minutes with God this week without a to-do list or a request for anything. Read Luke 15:25–32. Thank Him for welcoming you into His family, and ask Him to show you one way to reflect His heart toward someone else.
PRAYER
Father, forgive us when we become busy in Your house but distant in our hearts. Renew our joy in knowing You. Help us serve from love rather than obligation, and celebrate the grace You extend to others. Make our church a place where people encounter Your heart and find their way home. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
No Judgement. Just Grace.
